Education Program
Our program runs on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the school terms, offering your school access to the park from 10.00am to 2.00pm. Coal Creek is open to the public on Thursdays but you will have exclusive access on the other days. We can accommodate up to 175 students per visit, divided into seven groups of up to 25 each. Larger groups will be scheduled across two days.

Cost and Inclusions
The cost is a $35 administration fee, plus $13 per student (including GST), with no charge for adults attending. This includes:

  • Lesson: A 30-minute Victorian-style school lesson in our heritage schoolhouse, where students will use slates, pen, and ink in an interactive session comparing school life now and in the 1890s.
  • Self-Guided Tours: We provide two self-guided interpretative tour fact sheets for teachers, covering the main street and the old pioneer houses and tools. These tours take approximately 30 minutes each.

Access and Accessibility
Many of our heritage buildings will be open, offering an exclusive peek into the fascinating collections on display. Please note that while our site is accessible by wheelchair, some steep sections may be challenging. If you have any concerns, please contact us to discuss further.

Facilities
An undercover lunch and bag zone will be allocated, with old-fashioned games available for use. If a wheelchair-accessible space is required, please let us know.
